After 54 years, one of the oldest Taco Bells in the state is closing its doors for good.
The Laguna Beach restaurant at 669 South Coast Highway first opened in 1967, five years after the first one was opened in Downey.

Laguna Beach is one of the last remaining locations built with the fast food chain's original, Spanish mission-style design, according to reporting by the Orange County Register.
Franchise owner Steve Smith announced the closure on Facebook, thanking loyal customers for 54 years of business. The restaurant lost its lease, according to the post.
Smith said that the Laguna Beach location was his favorite of all the locations he owns, in an older interview with the OC Register on the location’s 50th anniversary.

"I like it because it’s the community Taco Bell," he said. "In big cities you have numerous locations and don’t have the loyalty to one location. If you live and work in Laguna Beach, this is your Taco Bell."
Taco Bell’s original location, called Numero Uno, was moved in 2015 and is now parked at Taco Bell’s headquarters in Irvine.
