A Temecula councilwoman's comment that compared her mask defiance to Rosa Parks' fight to end segregation has caught Stephen Colbert's eye, national attention

A comment made from a Temecula councilwoman, that compared her mask defiance to Rosa Parks' fight to end segregation, has caught national attention now.

Stephen Colbert played Jessica Alexander's comments from a council meeting, which was on April 13, on his late-night show this week.

"She took a stance getting pushed to the back of the bus. This is what I'm telling you I feel like. I feel like I'm getting pushed to the back of the bus," she says in a recording that Colbert played on his show.

Colbert called Alexander's remarks "dumb."

One of Alexander's colleagues asked her to apologize - and some residents called for her to resign - at the latest council meeting on Tuesday saying the remarks were offensive and insensitive.

Alexander spoke but never addressed her comments.
