The National Weather Service announced a Red Flag Warning for the North Bay, East Bay hills and interior valleys across the Bay Area, in effect Saturday night through Monday evening.
High temperatures near triple digits and gusty winds will keep fire crews on alert this weekend.
Those who live in fire country are also apprehensive.
"(We are) very disaster weary, you know, we’ve had three years of fires, floods, COVID and those are all things that, you know, we’re dealing with," said Kathy Kane, who oversees the Disaster Relief Program at Community Action Partnership in Sonoma.
"Each time there’s a new disaster, our staff knows we’ve got to be ready," she added.
Wind gusts are expected to peak at 50 MPH at higher elevations, with winds forecast between 35-45 MPH elsewhere.
Those winds combined with low humidity mean high fire danger.
"Those winds in the upper elevations still do present a significant concern to us," said Paul Lowenthal, Santa Rosa’s Assistant Fire Marshall.
Peak winds are expected Saturday night into early Sunday.
"(We’re) getting messages out," Kane said. "You’ve got to have your go bag ready. Make sure you’ve gotten signed up for emergency alerts. Make sure you’ve got your papers and things ready to go."
PG&E has not yet called for a Public Safety Power Shutoff, but it has warned of potential shutoffs in Plumas, Butte and Yuba Counties Saturday evening. The utility also warned of possible PSPS events in parts of 15 Counties, including Napa County, starting early Sunday morning.
