Storms passed through Sonoma and Napa Thursday night, even bringing with it light rain showers in some areas.
The storm played out as predicted, with the brunt coming off the coast into Marin county, according to fire officials. Although some showers came in, there wasn’t enough rain to be of much help.

“Some of these storms are producing a few hundredths of an inch of rainfall, but we consider a wetting rainfall more than one-tenth of an inch, and that would really help out a lot,” said Roger Gauss, with the National Weather Service.
Overall, the impact was minimal, with the National Weather Service canceling its Red Flag Warning for the area early at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
There were some small blazes, but nothing substantial.
“A tree that was struck and caught on fire was up in the valley,” said Sonoma County Fire District Chief Mark Heine. There were two additional fires in the county as well, and all three were quickly contained.
With better visibility Friday morning, Heine said firefighters will get a better idea if there were any other small fires they missed. “There may be other lightning strike-related smalled fires that we’re not aware of,” he said.
