SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – With all the fog we've had earlier this month, we've already established this is not our usual October, and there's yet another change coming.

This weekend winds are going to howl throughout the Bay Area.

"A pattern change that we've been waiting on for a while," said Sean Miller with the National Weather Service. "We've been stuck in the same pattern for much of the month and now we’re out of that."

"We are watching as we go into a potentially more active period here," he said.

The culprit is a fast-moving storm headed for the Sierra, which will bring snow to the passes and churn up the Bay winds.

"We're going to start out windy on the coast as early as tonight as the weather system moves through – brings the onshore winds," said Miller.

"Then as we shift around later Saturday and Sunday the hills are going to experience those winds as well, especially the North and East Bay," he said.

Unfortunately, with all the drought stricken trees people should look out for branches that could give way.

The storm will likely add to the autumnal atmosphere in the Bay, and people might even be able to go skiing a month from now.
