The American Kennel Club is releasing its latest rankings of the favorite dog-breeds across the nation.
Is your dog on the list?
According to AKC, the most popular dog breeds for 2020 were released on Tuesday. The Labrador Retriever remains America's top dog coming in at No. 1. The cute Frenchie took No. 2 and then it was No. 3 German Shepherds and No. 4 Golden Retrievers. The AKC said on its site it was the first time the Frenchie ranked above those two breeds. Bulldogs were five among the Top 5 breeds.
"For 2020, the Labrador retriever took the top spot, marking the loveable canine's 30th consecutive year ranking first on the list," according to People Magazine.
Guess who made it into the Top 10 this year? The Dachshund! The dog breed knocked Pembroke Welsh Corgi to No. 11.
Where does AKC get its information from? According to its site, "The study used registration statistics from the AKC to compile and analyze the data. But there are more substantial reasons that dog registration is important. The AKC is the only purebred dog registry in the United States, maintaining systematic investigations and inspections. The AKC conducts thousands of inspections each year to ensure compliance with standards that support the safety, welfare, and health of dogs throughout the country."
