When the COVID-19 vaccine first came out, it appeared the hit the travel industry took during the first months of the pandemic would rebound.
However, a new study shows the fully vaccinated are becoming less comfortable, yet again, with traveling as the delta variant becomes more widespread.
"I’m fully vaccinated, so I don’t think I’d get any severe illness," said one woman in an interview with KCBS Radio. But vaccinated people can still be carriers of the virus, "So I don’t want to spread that to other areas," she added.
According to the study, conducted by travel website and blog The Points Guy, nearly half, 49%, of vaccinated travelers feel less comfortable flying domestically now than they did prior to the delta variant outbreak.
In contrast, only 26% of unvaccinated travelers feel uncomfortable flying domestically. The survey showed a similar discrepancy for those who occasionally fly internationally, 53% vaccinated and 29% unvaccinated, and those who visit other cities/towns, at 35% vaccinated and 16% unvaccinated.
Additionally, the study showed that vaccinated adults feel less comfortable overall participating in various entertainment activities including dining indoors and going to outdoor and indoor public events.
