Yosemite National Park is no longer requiring daily visitors to have reservations.

The National Park Service started requiring all drivers to have a reservation to enter the park last summer in an effort to limit capacity because of the pandemic.

During the busy summer months in particular the park sees significant traffic at popular destinations, viewpoints and facilities.

The park issued 1,700 vehicle passes for each day, which had to be reserved in advance. People could also enter the park with camping permits for overnight stays.

While reservations are no longer required, the park still has safety precautions in place including distancing and wearing a mask.

Some facilities are also closed to help limit crowds and the popular Mariposa Grove remains closed because of winter storm damage.

The park had previously lifted the reservation requirement in December and January before putting it back in place for the month of February.
