Bay Area Air Quality District to require replacing gas stoves and water heaters

Experts say the transition to cleaner appliances is a critical part of improving air quality here in the Bay Area but it's also an expensive shift. KCBS' Shannon Golden reports Bay Area agencies just announced major funding to help make that transition more affordable. A toxic algae bloom is to blame a surge in marine mammals like seals and sea lions getting sick, and in some cases, dying. KCBS Mike DeWald reports from Marin County cases are happening up and down the Bay Area coastline. Hundreds of runners took to the streets of Kauai early Sunday morning just hours after hurricane Lowell forced the cancellation of the popular marathon. As KCBS Reporter Holly Quan tells us, that didn’t stop disappointed runners from creating their own race.
