A man from Newark, New Jersey, has allegedly stolen over $18,000 and caused $10,000 in damages to more than a dozen Dunkin’ Donuts locations over the last two months.
According to the Hackensack Police Department, Enajaim E. Bowman, 24, is responsible for the thefts and destruction. Bowman turned himself into authorities last week after an investigation. His thefts are believed to have stretched across Bergen, Middlesex, Morris, and Union counties.
The police department shared that from December to January, Bowman broke into 14 Dunkin’ Donuts locations after hours, stealing anywhere from $700 to $3,000 from each store.
Bowman allegedly walked out empty-handed at one location in Edison but left around $500 worth of damage.
According to the police, Bowman stole from the stores’ safes, cash registers, and manager offices. However, he primarily stole cash and gift cards.
Bowman allegedly hit three to four locations once every week or two, typically breaking in from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m., bringing in thousands every night.
Detectives were able to link all 14 break-ins to Bowman, and an attempted 15th, thanks to his consistent pattern of thefts and security footage. The investigation is what pressured Bowman to turn himself in.
He is currently facing charges that include 14 counts of third-degree burglary, one count of attempted burglary, 12 counts of theft, and multiple criminal mischief charges, according to Hackensack police.
