Las Vegas, NV (KDWN) – Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 4.7% in September, according to data released by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

It’s the 5th straight month that that the rate has fallen, bringing the state's jobless rate to its lowest level since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state added 1,300 non-farm jobs during September, pushing total employment to approximately 1.62 million.

Regional job gains were primarily driven by the Las Vegas metro area (+1,500 jobs) and the Reno area (+1,000 jobs).

Job growth over the past year has been largely concentrated in healthcare, professional/business services, and construction, while the traditional leisure and hospitality sector has remained stable near pre-pandemic levels.

Despite the recent improvements, Nevada’s unemployment rate remains 0.5 percentage points higher than the overall U.S. national average.
