(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - President Woodrow Wilson established June 14th as Flag Day in 1916. Flag Day has always had a strong connection to our Commonwealth and City of Pittsburgh.
From our nation’s very beginnings in Philadelphia, to Pittsburgh’s role as home of the National Flag Foundation, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in fact became the first U.S. State to celebrate Flag Day as a Holiday in June of 1937.
We urge all our listeners and readers to show your patriotism and fly the American flag on Friday, June 14.
