20th Animal Tests Positive For Rabies In Allegheny County This Year

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A raccoon discovered in Monroeville has tested positive for rabies.

The Allegheny Health Department says the raccoon was found near the 500 block of Patton Street.

This is the 20th rabid animal reported in Allegheny County this year.  There have been 15 raccoons, 4 bat, and 1 cat.

 As always residents are reminded to avoid wild and stray animals to avoid exposure to rabies and to make sure their pets are up-to-date with vaccinations.
