PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – After 37 years on the air and on the street in Pittsburgh for KDKA-TV, reporter Ralph Iannotti is retiring at the end of his Friday shift.
The 74-year-old Iannotti says no one at the station forced his decision. It was his own. “I just believe it’s time to hang it up. I’ve decided about a month and a half ago that maybe now is the right time.”
By his own count, Iannotti has done some 11-thousand stories in Pittsburgh.
What’s next for a reporter always on the go? He says he plans to “chill” and turn off all social media for a few weeks.
“The only thing I won’t miss about this job is being out in a snowstorm at 11 o’clock at night telling people to stay home.”
