HARRISBURG Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) In a press release, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has ordered all flags in the commonwealth to fly at half-staff to honor the victims of COVID-19.

All commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds with flags are to fly at half-staff until further notice, and all residents of the state are welcome to join in on the tribute.

“Too many Pennsylvanians have lost their lives to COVID-19, and, unfortunately, many more will die,” said Gov. Wolf. “Already we have lost friends, parents, grandparents, and siblings. We have lost first responders. We have lost community members.”

Gov. Wolf would go on to say that the virus has prevented people from having honoring the dead in traditional gatherings and hopes that the flag lowering offers a form of solace for those who have been grieving.

Flags are to remain at half-staff until a date is announced after the pandemic passes.
