Allegheny County To Bait Traps To Vaccinate Raccoon For Rabies

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Allegheny County starts baiting raccoons Friday to vaccinate the animals for rabies.

Over 19 years, the program has reduced human and pet exposures to rabies.

The bait will be delivered from vehicles and helicopters. Baiting by hand will happen from July 31 through August 10.

The county says the choppers will fly slowly over residential area from August 10 through August 17.
