Allegheny Health Department Director Leaving For CDC

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The director of the Allegheny County Health Department will leave her position at the end of July.

Dr. Karen Hacker has accepted the role of director of the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].

In a release announcing her departure, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald says Hacker "has set a path forward for our residents and municipalities, and will be leaving us a healthier county.”

She joined the department in 2013.
