PENN HILLS (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — A teenager abducted from her home last night in Penn Hills has been found and her ex-boyfriend is in custody.
Police got a tip early Monday both were in a house on 28th St. in McKeesport. Officers forced their way inside the home and 16-year-old Marjani Aquil was taken to the hospital.
Police say 19-year-old Jermaine Laquay Rodgers was hiding in the cellar of the home and was taken into custody after a two-hour standoff.
Rodgers is Aquil's ex-boyfriend. Investigators say he broke into her home on Glenbrook Ct. in Penn Hills, assaulted and abducted her Wednesday night.
State Police issued an Amber alert at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday and was cancelled at 1:34 a.m. Thursday.
This is the second time Rodgers has been charged with holding Aquil against her will. The first time was about a year ago.
Rodgers was out on probation for that offense when Wednesday's abduction occurred.
KDKA-TV's Amy Wadas Aquil's father shared a photo with KDKA-TV's Amy Wadas of the 16-year-old after Rodgers allegedly beat her after taking her from her home.
This is just one of a few photos Marjani Aquil's dad shared with me. To be clear, he gave @kdka permission to share this image. He said he wants awareness to be raised. You can see her right eye is bruised and he said her right eye socket is broken. #KDKA pic.twitter.com/avU3f5Plcz
