PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A man reportedly spit on a Giant Eagle employee at the Edgewood location Wednesday.
Officials say the unidentified man, who was upset, crawled under the recently installed Plexiglas divider and spit on the employee’s face.
In a statement sent to KDKA Radio, Giant Eagle said, “How this Edgewood guest acted is wholly unacceptable, and his actions do not reflect the calm, positive and appreciative attitude of so many of those shopping in our stores.”
“We thank our Edgewood Giant Eagle Team Member, and all Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo Team Members, for continuing to put their communities first during this unprecedented and uncertain time,” the statement added.
Giant Eagle says they are “working with our affected team member to provide the care she needs and deserves.”
The grocery chain adds they support law enforcement in their investigation and that he “answers for his careless and disrespectful behavior.”
