PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – An attorney for two of the three men charged in the attack on two African-American women at a Marshall-Shadeland gas station last week says they are not racist.
35-year-old Bill Singh and 39-year-old Simon Sadhra they used their American names, said little.
Their attorney David J. Shrager says it was a dispute over $17 that got majorly out of hand.
“My clients are not racists, they are not racist people I’ve spoken with them at length they love that community they are a part of that community,” said Shrager.
Shrager says he has seen all of the video and there isn’t enough there to charge his clients with aggravated assault.
District Attorney Stephen Zappala is sticking to the lesser simple assault charges saying that aggravated assault would be on par with third-degree murder.
Members of Pittsburgh City Council and black elected officials have sent a letter to Zappala asking for a meeting.
