HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A new approach to legalizing recreational cannabis has been introduced to the State House.
The bill would put the state Liquor Control Board in charge of selling the drug, similar to alcohol sales in state-owned stores.
Supporters say selling marijuana this way would mean the greatest financial benefit to the state, with a 19 percent tax proposed in the legislation.
The bill was introduced within a week of the governor's announcement that he will support legalizing recreational adult use of marijuana, although the bill faces Republican opposition in the House.
