PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — A case of tuberculosis has been confirmed in a student at Arsenal 6 thru 8 in Lawrenceville.

The Allegheny County Health Department confirmed the case Tuesday, and said the student is not in school and is expected to complete treatment soon.

Health officials are identifying and testing anyone who may have been in close contact with that student.

TB is an infectious bacterial disease that is spread through the air. It cannot be spread through drinks, surfaces or skin contact. Symptoms include a cough that lasts longer that three weeks, weight loss, night sweats, chills, fever and coughing up blood.
