PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A cat that had its left paw blown off by firecrackers on or around the Fourth of July has fully recovered and now has a new home!

Humane Animal Rescue announced on Wednesday that Pickles has her forever home.

In a post on Facebook, the Rescue says that “Scott and Megan, are excited to welcome Pickles into their home.”

Pickles was brought in by a group of good Samaritans about a week after she was attacked.

When veterinarians were able to inspect her, they realized a rubber band was tied to her front paw that was used to hold the firecrackers in place.

The wound had become infected and was infested with maggots leaving vets no choice but to amputate the leg.

The Rescue also celebrated a milestone on Thursday with the adoption of their 3,000th pets.

“Skittles and Gordie were adopted at the same exact time today, tying for #3,000.”

Skittles is a dog and Gordie is a cat.

Other animals looking for homes are available for adoption.

If you see any form of animal neglect or abuse, you can report it here.
