CBS Correspondent Mo Rocca On His New Book: Mobituaries

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - CBS Sunday Morning Correspondent Mo Rocca is releasing a joint book/podcast titled Mobituaries

Mobituaries will present the obituaries of singers, celebrities, vanished sitcom characters and more. It is dedicated for people who did not receive the proper respect after a death or disappearance.

"What I'm trying to do is pay respects to people that you may have heard of, you may not have heard of, that never, in my opinion, got a proper send off," Rocca said.

"And also ideas, eras and things that never got obituaries."

The obituaries will range from Sammie Davis Junior to civil rights pioneers. Rocca will feature the first African American to play Major League Baseball; Moses Fleetwood Walker.

He also highlights celebrity deaths that were over-shadowed by another event.

For example, Audrey Hepburn died on the same day that Bill Clinton took office.

"I asked President Clinton about this and he was genuinely shocked. He did not know that Audrey Hepburn died on the day of his inauguration," Rocca explains.

The first season of the podcast  debuted on January 17, 2019 and will consist of eight weekly episodes. Simon & Schuster will publish the book in November of 2019.
