PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – If you or a loved one need an ambulance ride, you be going alone.
Pittsburgh Public Safety and the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS have announced changes to those who need an ambulance transport to a local hospital.
Friends or family that will request a ride to the hospital with a patient will be asked to find another way to the hospital.
The following exceptions will be made
- If the person requesting to ride along is a guardian of a minor or has medical power of attorney
- If the person requesting to ride along is the decision-maker in the event the patient is incapacitated
- If the person requesting to ride along is a language translator
- If the person requesting to ride along assists a patient who has a disability
The changes hope to reduce exposure of COVID-19 in the community.
