A Penn State study shows how COVID-19 threatens Pennsylvania’s child day care industry.

Many centers were forced to close.

Others are now operating with reduced enrollments.

Pennsylvania Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller says providers have been hit hard.

280 child care centers in Pennsylvania will close and another 1,000 are threated to close due to coronavirus.

Penn state researcher Philip Sirinides says the cost to centers is at least $209 million, excluding reduced enrollment.

The state will use the study to distribute the final 116 million dollars in Cares Act funding for child care.
