UPDATE: State Makes Mistake, Drive-In Movie Theaters Not Yet Allowed To Open

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Dependable Drive-In movie theater in Moon Township has announced their plans to reopen on May 6.

Officials have deemed it safe for all drive in’s Pennsylvania to reopen.

The first movie that will be shown is “Trolls: World Tour.” Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:10 p.m.

For the time being, only one feature will be shown and prices will be reduced to reflect the change.

There will be other changes made as well at Dependable.

To ensure the safety of customers and staff, touch-less faucets and paper towel dispensers are being installed in restrooms.

In addition, only two people will be permitted in the restroom at a time, with exceptions being made for those with small children.

They are also working on an online food ordering system. No one will be permitted to enter the concession stand and Dependable management recommends downloading the FanFood app. The concession stand will only accept payments over the app, cash will not be accepted. You will be notified when your food is ready and you are asked to only go to the concession stand when you are notified.

Dependable is also implementing new rules and policies. Failure to comply will result in removal from the drive-in:

  • First, the driver of your vehicle must wear a mask when entering the drive in, during the ticket purchasing transaction. You may remove your masks once you are settled in your space if you wish, however, should anyone from your vehicle leave your space while at the theater for any reason, masks MUST be worn.
  • There may only be one vehicle parked between each set of poles. While the recommended distance for social distancing is 6 feet, this method ensures that you will have nearly 12 feet of separation. While this will reduce our maximum capacity, we feel it is best to go beyond recommendations to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Once parked, you are asked stay at your space. Please only leave your space to pick up take-out from the concession stand, or use the restrooms. After which, you must return to your space.
  • No walk-ins or motorcycles are permitted to enter, only vehicles. The number of vehicles permitted into the drive-in will be reduced for the time being.

"Last but not least, this is a work in progress. There may be additional guidelines added and possibly some discarded. We are all in uncharted territories. And we need to work together to get through this. It is our goal to bring some much needed entertainment to the community and give everyone a few hours to take their minds off all the craziness, but we need to do it safely, and that is where we need your help by following these carefully considered guidelines. Our aim is for everything to get back to normal and be safe, and we will get there," Dependable said in a Facebook post.

Dependable also asks that anyone who is feeling ill to stay home.
