Nickole Nesby is the first African-American woman to be elected as Mayor of Duquesne.
Nesby tells KDKA Radio she has been the target of personal attacks online.
“The attacks that are coming from the other individuals, they don’t know me, if they had the opportunity to know me they would know that my intent is to do what’s best for the community. I live here.”
Nesby has also been the target of vandalism at the city administration building, “there was feces placed inside my woman’s bathroom earlier this year and the flag was removed from outside.”
Nesby adds that city employees are working against her as she attempts to correct nepotism and misappropriated funds.
