PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Flash Flood Watch is in effect in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
The National Weather service says with showers and storms expected to develop again today there could be heavy rain.
Because the ground is saturated, it will take little additional rainfall to cause flooding.
Utility and road crews were bracing for more severe weather in the Pittsburgh region Thursday.
The already saturated ground has been causing problems in places like Penn Hills, Green Tree and elsewhere.
In Penn Hills, a massive tree came down from a hillside above Verona Road just after 8:00 a.m.
It snapped a utility pole and brought down wires.
"It sounded like a big crash of thunder and the next thing you know the whole building went black, emergency lights came on, we went out and looked and that's what we found, that the tree had fallen down on all the wires," said Suzie Fischer who works at American Legion Post 351 across the street.
No one was hurt but Verona Road was closed between Mt. Carmel and Lincoln Roads.
The same thing happened on Morange Road behind Bishop Canevin High School in Green Tree.
A large tree brought down a pole and wires. The high school still has power.
Among the street flooding earlier in the day, McKnight Road was down to one lane in each direction just before the ramps to and from I-279.
