HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is maintaining his opposition to teachers carrying guns in the classroom.
On Tuesday, Florida becomes the eight state to allow some teachers to be armed.
Wolf tells Larry and John on KDKA Radio arming teachers is not the way to go.
"I think over $100 million in the last two years," said Wolf. "I think $60 million this past year on school safety."
Florida teachers must pass a background check and psychological exam and have more than 140 hours of training to bring a gun into the classroom.Miami Dade and Orlando have opted out.
Pittsburgh Public Schools do not allow school police to carry guns.
