PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Some are residents could be without power for days as crews work to repair damage caused by this weekend's strong winds.
So what do you do with all of that food in the fridge?
“I would tell you to not save your eggs, milk, meat or any kind of perishable foods like that. Vegetables and fruits are fine in the refrigerator; keep the door closed,” said Cynthia Javor, Nutrition Educator at Penn State Extension, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Monday morning.
She tells Larry and John that it only takes four hours for some food to spoil in the refrigerator.
Putting items in a cooler outside can keep food safe for 8-10 hours, while freezers should hold the temperature for up to 24 hours.
