Giant Eagle

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Giant Eagle is teaming up with Simbe Robotics for a pilot program that will help the grocer restock its shelves faster.

That's Giant Eagle spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski tells KDKA Radio,

"We are excited to introduce our Pittsburgh area customers to "Tally" the robot who is hard at work here in our Waterworks Market District location making sure that we know when product is not on shelves so we can replenish it."

The slender, tall robot will weave through aisles scanning shelves for empty space.

If "Tally" finds one, it will check inventory files and notify staff.

Jablonowski says it's meant to streamline the time-consuming task to free-up team members for other jobs.

The Waterworks location is currently the only local location where the robot is being used.
