PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020) - Giant Eagle has announce a dedicated hour to first responders who need supplies.
The grocery chain announced Thursday, that beginning Friday, April 3, stores will open at 6 a.m. every week on Thursday and Friday for EMT's paramedics, police, firefighters and other trained member of organizations connected with this type of work.
Giant Eagle says they won't be checking for IDs but ask that people please respect the hour for our community's first responders.
This comes a day after it was announced that special curbside pickup hours will be put in place at the Shady Side Market District for first responders.
On Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays, Giant Eagle locations are open at 6 a.m. for those 60 and older
It was also announced Thursday that Giant Eagle will be closed on Easter Sunday.
"Our Team Members have been working around the clock to provide a safe shopping environment for our guests and to ensure access to essential food, fuel and medicines, and we cannot thank them enough for their heroic efforts throughout this pandemic," said Giant Eagle Spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski. "We thank our guests for helping us recognize our Team Members in this special way and encourage everyone in our communities to please keep these closures in mind as you plan your food, fuel and prescription needs next week."
