PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Giant eagle stores are asking shoppers to be patient and share as inventories run out on popular items.
Giant eagle is restricting some items like toilet paper and paper towels to one package each, two loaves of bread, one of disinfectant wipes.
Spokesman Dan Donovan says there is no shortage.
But they can't get them in stores fast enough.
"What we are asking is that you don't shop for the next month Giant Eagle stores will be open we will continue to get product every day,"
The list of items that will be restricted are:
- Cases of bottled water – four (4) packages per guest
- All paper products (including toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) – one (1) package each variety per guest
- Bread – two (2) total items per guest
- Milk – two (2) items per guest
- Disinfectant wipes – one (1) per guest, where available
There was no toilet paper at the Settlers Ridge Market District but then, several pallets arrived and they sold, well like toilet paper.
The stores are also taking extra measures to keep all areas clean
They include:
- Doors leading in and out of backrooms and prep areas
- Door handles to bathrooms, stalls and freezers
- Shopping cart handles and hand baskets
- Curbside Express totes
- Scan Pay & GO handhelds
- Cashier scanners, pin pads and register belts
- Team Member breakrooms
- All restrooms
