PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Pittsburgh man was stopped with a loaded 38-caliber handgun at Pittsburgh International Airport Monday morning.
TSA officers found the gun in the Coraopolis man's carry-on, loaded with 14 bullets including one in the chamber.
The gun was confiscated by Allegheny County police who detained the man for questioning.
This is the fifth loaded gun found in carry-on bags at Pittsburgh International this month and is the 23rd this year
Last year 34 total firearms were stopped by TSA Agents and 32 were stopped in 2017.
TSA has the authority to impose a penalty of up to $13,222 for weapon violations.
A typical first offense costs $4,000.
