PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Broadway musical Hamilton is entering its final weekend in Pittsburgh.

"Over 88,000 people will have seen this show during the four week run over at the Benedum," said Kevin McMahon, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Friday morning.

Individualists living out of state are making their way to town for it.

"We had a lady last night that was here all the way from Maine," McMahon said.

"It's great music, but it's also a wonderful story. It's about a founding father that a lot of folks probably don't know about because of the history of his own life. That just makes it even more captivating for so many people," McMahon explains.

The success comes as no surprise, as Pittsburgh is one of the prime markets for Broadway musicals.

"Our biggest challenge is finding four continuous weeks at the Benedum. The Benedum is one of the busiest centers of its kind in the entire world," McMahon added.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be coming to town next.
