HARRISON TWP. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - On Friday, it was announced by Representative Frank Dermody and Senator Lindsey M. Williams that Harrison Township will be receiving $3 million in grant money.

The grant money will be awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund allocates money to projects that upgrade local transportation methods or features or promotes increased safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.

Specifically, Harrison Township has plans to improve the intersection of Route 366 and Pleasant Avenue.

The following upgrades will be made to the intersection:

  • Constructing a new turning lane northbound from Route 28;
  • Separating the bypass ramp from the intersection by constructing a barrier;
  • Extending the northbound ramp through the intersection;
  • Constructing a new left turn lane to serve traffic destined for Pleasant Avenue
  • Adding new traffic signals.

“My office has been working closely with Representative Dermody and the entire Harrison Township community to improve transportation in the area,” said Senator Williams.

“I’m excited to see this project receive the funding it needs to move forward, as it will improve access and safety for residents throughout the Allegheny Valley.”
