PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - It’s About The Warrior Foundation will be hosting a benefit hockey game on Saturday, March 23.

The Pittsburgh Warthogs will face off against the Pennsylvania State Police at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Arena at 7:00p.m.

Founder and Executive Director of It’s About the Warrior Foundation, Steve Monteleone, joined KDKA Radio on Friday to preview the event and explain what his organization is doing to improve the life of veterans.

The foundation is currently working with Bio-Conquest, a health consultant company that analyzes a person’s physiological traits.

"We use heart-rate variability biofeedback," said Mackenzie De Jesus, Owner of Bio-Conquest, who was also a part of the conversation.

“What we do is use feedback in real time from the body to help teach people and veterans how they can control these physiological processes that we think to be outside of our control."

So far, the response is successful.

"It gives them back control over their anxiety, anger management, and stress management. Everyone has it, and they have a little bit more,” De Jesus explains.

“So when they are not with me, they've see this control on a screen, and they can use it when they actually need it."

It is similar to the Lamaze technique during pregnancy.
