PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - For the second week in a row, hundreds of vehicles backed up at least a mile have lined up for a mass food distribution in Duquesne.
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank promoted this distribution even more than last week.
More than 860 vehicles were served Monday between 9am and noon. The Food Bank’s Brian Gulish, says they can serve up to 2,000 vehicles.
“The Police of Duquesne have set this up again, from a logistics standpoint, it’s really good and I would expect it to be to be just as smooth, if not better than last week which went really well, said Gulish.
The PA National Guard helped distribute the boxes of food. Each vehicle receives two boxes, one fresh food, and one non-perishables.
More distribution events are being planned in the city of Pittsburgh as well as in Beaver, Butler and Greene counties.
Gulish adds their warehouse is full and supplies are still strong.
