PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After years of calls for it to return, “the nightmare has ended.”
Kennywood has announced the return of the Old Mill ride.
The ride that has been known as “Garfield’s Nightmare” since 2004 will revert to its original name and theme this season.
The Old Mill, opened in 1901 and is Kennywood’s oldest ride, still standing.
The Mill has had various names over the years including, The Fairyland Floats, The Rapids Gorge and The Panama Canal.
In the 1970s it became Hardheaded Harold’s Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideaway but once again became The Old Mill in the 1990s and kept the western theme when it was the Haunted Hideaway.
The ride will be restored to its “retro western theme” and will feature new twists and turns for a new generation.
The park will open to Season Passholders on April 25 and 26 and then will open to the public weekends beginning Saturday, May 2.
The park, entering its 122nd season, will be open daily beginning May 21.
Ticket information can be found here.
