PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Kennywood Park has announced the beginning of the 2020 season will be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement posted to social media, the amusement park said its highest priority to keep guests and Kennywood employees safe and that they have been following safety guidelines from federal, state and local officials.
Since preseason operations have been shut down they said they will not be ready to start the season on May 2, as well originally planned.
"While it's too soon to confidently provide an opening date, please know we remain committed to opening Kennywood this summer for you to enjoy as soon as safely possible," park management said in a statement.
Season Passholders will automatically have their passes extended through the end of June 2021.
Passholders will also be able to extend their 2021 Season Pass to cover the entire year at a reduced rate on a later date.
More information can be found on Kennywood's COVID-19 webpage.
