PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A landslide on McCoy Road in Stowe Township that has reduced traffic to one lane since March 2019 is being repaired.
The road just northwest of Dunn Street, currently has a temporary stop light and will close on Monday, July 20 and will be closed in both directions through the end of December 2020.
Allegheny County Department of Public Works says in a release, “Traffic will be detoured using Neville Avenue, Island Avenue (Route 51), the McKees Rocks Bridge, Route 65, the West End Bridge, West Carson Street (Route 51), Stanhope Street (Route 51), Linden Street (Route 51), and Chartiers Avenue (Route 51). The posted detour route will cross the Ohio River because of the tight turn radius at the intersection of McCoy Road and Island Avenue (Route 51).”
The notice for the $464,000 project is less than normally given and the start date is so the contractor can complete the project before winter.
