PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A billboard in Worthington, Armstrong County has gotten a lot of attention in the past for its racist and homophobic propaganda, it is once again getting attention, this time, for an image featuring Antwon Rose, and the former police officer who was found not guilty of shooting him, Michael Rosfeld.
The jury ruled that Rosfeld was justified in the shooting of Rose, who ran away from the car he was in. The car was involved in a drive by shooting minutes before.
The electronic billboard that rotates different messages on Route 422 says “Legal System Works” with a photo of Rosfeld that says “Policeman” and a photo of Rose that says “Criminal”. At the bottom of the sign it says “Justice Served Get Over It”.
When Pittsburgher Steve Smith first heard about the new addition to the billboard, he didn’t believe it so he drove out to look for himself.
Smith says after he saw every slide on the billboard he confirmed to himself that the person who put them up must be a racist because no other race was attacked.
“What permitted this to even be allowed up in the first place?” asked Smith.
“What I felt in that moment when I wanted to yank the entire billboard down and just keep hitting it with a hammer, the only thing that would happen is that another is just going to replace it and then it’s going to go right back up . . . it would’ve been extremely to the overall endgame of this,” said Smith.
