(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - According to new data, “The Night of the Living Dead” is the most popular horror movie in Pennsylvania.
“The Night of the Living Dead” was filmed in Evans City, at the Evans City Cemetery Chapel just north of Pittsburgh.
The film was written and directed by the late George Romero, who is credited with launching the zombie movie craze.
The 1968 cult classic spawned countless remakes and sequels under the “Living Dead” title.
Comparitech, used data from IMDB and Google Trends to compile the list of the most popular Halloween/horror movie in each state.
The data from the list showed a pattern of movies that were filmed or set in that particular state would be the most popular.
Out of the 50 states 48 different movies are listed as a state’s favorite.
Only two movies are multiple states favorite. New Mexico and Iowa both prefer Alien.
While Wisconsin and Michigan both find The Ring as their favorite.
Ohio’s favorite horror movie is A “Nightmare on Elm Street”, the West Virginia’s is “The Crow”.
The 1990 remake of “The Night of the Living Dead” is the most popular in the state of Tennessee.
