PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A local TSA officer will be Senator Bob Casey's guest for the President's State of the Union Address.

Monica Hughes, an Army Reservist and TSA officer at Pittsburgh International Airport, told KDKA Radio's Lynne-Hayes Freeland that she hopes her attendance will highlight the struggle workers have faced during the government shutdown.

"I'm hoping that this does have an impact and that they see that regular people are affected by this. This is not a game, it's not something to hold people hostage to make a point."

In a release, the Senator from Pennsylvania says his guest was "held hostage" by 35-day shutdown, that he says was caused by the "Administration's recklessness."

The current agreement reached last month only keeps the government funded through February 15. President Trump has said he will do "whatever is necessary" to secure the US-Mexico border.

You can hear the President's State of the Union Address live on KDKA Radio Tuesday 9 p-m.
