PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A man accused in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend in Pitcairn is now in custody.
Police say 59-year-old Derrick Avant, who is charged with criminal homicide in the death of 55-year-old Alison Fritzius turned himself in Wednesday night.
Police were called Sunday night to the 800 block of Broadway Boulevard and found the woman had been stabbed in the chest.
She was taken to a hospital and died there a short time later.
Avant is being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bond. A hearing is scheduled for April 17
