NEW YORK (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - You’ve heard of support birds, rabbits, lizards and even rats, but now a New York man wants the comfort of beer.
Floyd Hayes says he wants beer to be his support animal.
He tells KDKA Radio he got the idea after heard a recording while on a bus in New York.
“The message outlined the rules of travel, no phone calls, no smoking and no alcohol “without writing permission”.
So Hayes thought it would be “funny” to get written permission.
“From there, I saw a story about someone who registered an emotional swarm of bees”
So, the 47-year-old Hayes filed a request with the US Service Dog registration.
The beer that was registered as a pint of IPA.
The good thing about the beer is it doesn’t need any training and Hayes says it will help with his social anxiety.
Hayes also thought the story would make people smile and it also gave him an opportunity to promote his marketing school.
Hayes says he thought it would make for a good experiment and that he isn’t making light of anyone with real emotional issues.
It’s unlikely that Hayes will actually be allowed to legally bring a beer onto the bus though.
