Meadows Casino Ordered To Close With 5 Others In PA

HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Six casinos still operating in Pennsylvania, including the Meadows, are being instructed to close.

The announcement was made by the PA Gaming Control Board Monday afternoon in an effort to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The Meadows and the five other casinos are asked to close by Tuesday, March 17 at 6 a.m.

The other casinos affected are:

  • Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course
  • Mount Airy Casino Resort
  • Mohegan Sun Pocono
  • Lady Luck Nemacolin
  • Presque Isle Racetrack and Casino

The Rivers Casino on the North Shore announced late last week they are closing temporarily as well.

The other states that have closed already are:

  • Valley Forge Casino and Resort
  • Harrah’s Philadelphia
  • Parx Casino
  • Rivers Philadelphia
  • Wind Creek Bethlehem

In a statement the Gaming Control Board said:

“The public health and safety of patrons, casino employees and others are of paramount importance. The Board is continuously monitoring developments and will update licensees and the public as frequently as possible with any new developments.”
