PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Facebook is giving $40 million in grants to small businesses in 40 cities, and Pittsburgh is one of them.
COO Sheryl Sandberg tells KDKA Radio, small businesses face unique challenges when stores are forced to close.
"A third of small businesses in the United States don't have a webpage or a mobile presence at all so when their supposed to start trying to sell online or survive through a crisis like this where people can't be together in person, how are they supposed to do that?" asked Sandberg.
Applications are being accepted for the next week.
The only qualifications that are that businesses have between two and 50 employees and have been in business for at least a year.
The grants are part of a $100 million initiative.
Businesses can apply here.
