PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The Pittsburgh Police K9 Academy recently graduated five new dogs from their three-month training program.
The five K9’s and their accompanying officers are:
Pittsburgh Police Officer Kevin Foley and K9 Shadow
Pittsburgh Police Officer Matt Schwartzmiller and K9 Miky
Butler City Police Lt. Brian Grooms and K9 Chooch
Butler City Police Patrolman Andrew Niederlander and K9 Rico
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy John Baldelli and K9 Baki
The five German Sheppards were sworn into duty at their graduation ceremony.
“I want to thank you for taking a dog and making it your partner, and to them for allowing you to be their partner,” Police Chief Scott Schubert said. “It’s a job that not everybody can do. And sometimes it’s a job that not everybody appreciates because they don’t see the amount of work you do, not just the work itself but at home. It really is a 24/7 job.”
These officers are also owners of their respective K9s making this more than just an on the clock job for the officers.
